Our Accessibility Statement
At Peak Edge Hotel and Red Lion Restaurant, our commitment to improving accessibility for all is part of an ongoing journey. Our mission is to provide the perfect space to eat, drink, sleep, and celebrate right on the edge of the glorious Peak District.
Our four-star independent property is here to provide a genuine escape, a retreat from the everyday for those seeking indulgence and a taste of laid-back luxury. While we deliver luxury and quality to our guests, we uphold strong values. Our dedication to providing an accessible retreat is of utmost importance to us. While Peak Edge Hotel is a modern property, built in 2011, the adjacent Red Lion Restaurant was built in 1788, so it provides more of a challenge.
We acknowledge our need to keep on our journey to improve accessibility for all. We are committed to ensuring digital and physical accessibility for all our guests. We continually strive to improve everyone’s experience and are working to apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Parking
The car parks are spacious and accommodate over 250 vehicles, with access directly off Darley Road. We have eight dedicated accessible parking bays: three at the rear, directly adjacent to the Red Lion Restaurant; three at the front, adjacent to the Red Lion entrance; and two others at the front, directly adjacent to the Peak Edge Hotel entrance. These are well-signed and available at both the front and back of the property. Parking is free and there is no need for reservations.
Mobility
The main entrance of the Red Lion Restaurant is at the rear through a purpose-built ramp, and the main hotel entrance is on the ground floor, with no requirement for ramp or lift access. The reception is staffed 24/7 and is situated facing the hotel entrance if assistance is required.
There is elevator access to all floors, but we are set across only two floors, with accessible rooms occupying a ground-floor location. Wider corridors facilitate mobility around the Peak Edge Hotel, and there is space for manoeuvring.
Due to the age of the Red Lion Restaurant, there are some access constraints due to the stone-built corridors, but we have recently improved accessibility to Red Lion Restaurant by installing the only viable solution: a hidden platform lift. The lift is self-operated but has been supplied with remote control key fobs for staff use if any guests want assistance.
Facilities
Peak Edge Hotel has two superior accessible rooms out of a total of 27 rooms. These rooms are designed to provide ample space and adapted amenities to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests. They are located on the ground floor for easy access and include walk-in accessible wet rooms with luxurious rain showers.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Peak Edge Hotel and Red Lion Restaurant, there may be some limitations and potential solutions.
Limitations: Main access doors are not yet automated, though they are all lever handles.
Alternative solutions: Ask team members for support, but we are looking to install push-operated door openers in the near future.
